MHM Wales is commissioned by
Bridgend County Borough Council to provide the Independent Professional
Advocacy (IPA) service for specialist communication or support needs
including dementia, mental health, sensory impairment, physical
disabilities or life-limiting conditions and access-all IPA service to
ensure any other eligible clients, including care home residents and unpaid
carers, are able to access an IPA.
People First Bridgend are
commissioned by Bridgend County Borough Council to provide a Specialism IPA
service for learning disabilities and clients with Autistic Spectrum
Conditions.
The Social Services and
Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 sets out requirements for local authorities
relating to advocacy under Part 10 (and related parts). Advocacy ensures
that individuals have a voice, choice, and control over their lives
The Independent Professional
Advocacy Service is available to those entering into or already engaged
with Social Services, and is accessible when a person can only overcome the
barrier(s) to participate fully in the assessment, care & support
planning, review & safeguarding processes with assistance from an
appropriate individual, but there is no appropriate individual available.
