Eating Disorder Support for Cwm Taf Morgannwg Footprint
Many aspects of the Covid-19 pandemic may make living with or recovery from an eating disorder (ED) particularly challenging. MHM Wales aims to support the psychological and behavioural responses of people with EDs during this time are key to ensure tailored peer support in these unprecedented circumstances.
MHM Wales will deliver online staff supported Eating Disorder Peer Support Groups and hopefully once lockdown restrictions are eased face to face eating disorder Peer support groups both within the community and from working in partnership with Cwm Taf Morgannwg Tier 2 specialist eating disorder teams within hospital settings to assist them in a number of ways that have been identified across eating disorder services and provisions.
MHM Wales have been providing peer support groups called SORTED which stands for Share Our Recovery Eating Disorders since November 2015.
These peer support groups comprises of weekly face to face sessions for people with eating disorders who travel from all across Wales to attend as this is the only groups undertaken in Wales.

Peer support sessions are also given weekly for carers of people with eating disorders,
1:1 sessions are provided for both sufferers and carers which provide tailor made support depending on needs, i.e. empowerment, financial advice, bereavement support, goal setting, meal support, shopping and coping techniques.
