Breaking the Silence on Men's Mental Health
Welcome to MHM Wales' dedicated page for men’s mental health. We are committed to addressing the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and providing accessible, supportive services where men can feel understood and empowered to take positive steps forward.
The Reality of Men's Mental Health
The statistics speak volumes:
74.1% of suicides in England and Wales are among men ([ONS, 2023]
Men are nearly three times more likely than women to develop alcohol dependent (Men’s Health Forum, 2023)
These figures highlight the critical need for tailored support and understanding to help men overcome the unique barriers they face.
How We Can Help
At MHM Wales, we offer a wide range of services designed to meet men’s mental health needs:
Wellbeing Hubs
Our Wellbeing Hubs in Bridgend provide welcoming spaces for men to connect, learn new skills, and access mental health support. These hubs host drop-in sessions, peer support activities, and workshops aimed at empowering individuals to build confidence and resilience.
Out-of-Hours Wellbeing Retreat (Professional Referral Only)
Situated in Bridgend, our out-of-hours wellbeing retreat offers a safe and peaceful environment for men to decompress and focus on their mental health. This service, accessible by professional referral only, is ideal for those needing targeted, short-term support outside typical service hours.
Guitars for Veterans
Music has a unique ability to heal. Our Guitars for Veterans programme provides ex-service personnel with the opportunity to learn guitar in a supportive group setting. This initiative encourages creativity, connection, and emotional expression, helping participants manage stress and build confidence.
Walking Groups
Join our walking groups to experience the benefits of physical activity and fresh air while connecting with others in a relaxed and stigma-free environment.
Talking Connections Counselling
Our Talking Connections service provides professional counselling tailored to men’s specific mental health needs. We offer a confidential space to explore emotions, develop coping strategies, and work towards long-term well-being.
Workshops and Events
Our workshops and events bring men together to discuss mental health openly, build support networks, and learn practical tools for improving their overall well-being.
